We want to strengthen children's skills, their will and their belief that they can help create peace — in their own communities and in the world.
Peace is created in conversation — and it is a choice.
We believe peace is created through conversations: about peace, and about what can challenge peace. Conflict, injustice, fear and difference must be talked about openly, so that children learn to understand them and act on them.
Peace does not happen by itself. It takes a conscious effort — to seek peace, to strengthen peace and to choose peace, again and again.
Every child has the right to peace and equal worth.
Children have the right to safety, to be heard and to belong. Their worth and their rights are the same, wherever they are born, whatever they believe and whichever language they speak.
We will create communities where every child is met with respect and has the opportunity to take part.
We will make peace something children can act on.
Peace is created when we listen to each other, speak up against injustice and find solutions to conflicts. When we take responsibility for our actions and make room for the one who stands outside.
Through teaching, creative activities and joint projects, we will give children the opportunity to practise creating peace in their everyday lives.
We will strengthen democracy through real participation.
Children must experience that their voice matters. That they can ask questions, express their views and have influence on shared decisions. They must learn that democratic participation brings both rights and responsibility for others.
That is why children must be co-creators of our work. Their ideas, perspectives and experiences must have real influence on the organisation's activities, priorities and development.
We will create encounters across the world.
We will connect children across countries, cultures, religions and living conditions. Through conversation, play, creativity and cooperation, we will create opportunities to understand each other's lives and to discover both differences and shared hopes.
We will give children experiences of people from different backgrounds finding shared solutions and taking responsibility together.
We will strengthen the courage to disagree and stay in dialogue.
Conflict is part of life. Children must learn to express their needs, set boundaries and meet others with respect. They must be able to stand up against violence, humiliation and exclusion.
We will strengthen their ability to understand different perspectives, handle disagreement peacefully and repair relationships when something has gone wrong.
We will make hope concrete.
Belief in peace must be nourished by experiences of being able to make a difference. We will support children in turning their ideas into action and in experiencing what they can create together with others.
From an action in the local community to cooperation across countries, children must be able to see that their contribution matters.
We adults take responsibility.
Children must have the opportunity to contribute on their own terms. The responsibility for their protection, their well-being and for creating a peaceful world lies with us adults.
We must create safe settings for children's participation and ourselves show the respect, responsibility and willingness to engage in dialogue that we wish to pass on.
Our shared commitment
Children of World Peace is founded on human equality, children's rights and democratic participation. We work independently of party-political and religious interests.
Together with children, families, schools and other communities, we will turn the hope of peace into concrete action and create connections between people.
Peace begins among the world's children.
We create the opportunities together with them.
We take responsibility for the world we share.
